The Flower Market or El Carmen Square
The traditional Flower Market is located next to the Cathedral, in front of the Church of El Carmen. This square is adorned by the façade of the temple which is made of carved stone. In this market you can find a great variety of flowers, plants and flower bouquets for every occasion. It is a great tourist attraction for visitors and it has become a symbol of the city.
Sangurima Square
It is well known as "Rotary Square". It is a place where wicker, iron and clay crafts are found. The main attractiveness are the clay handmade pots from Jatumpamba. It is located on Sangurima Street.
"3 de Noviembre" Market
It is one of the main markets downtown. Typical foods as well as basic groceries can be found at this place. It is located on Coronel Talbot and Mariscal Lamar Streets.
"10 de Agosto" Market
This is another market located downtown on Larga and General Torres Streets. All kinds of groceries and some handcrafts are found at this place.
"9 de Octubre" Market
It is located on the Eastern side of the Historical Center on Mariscal Lamar and Hermano Miguel Streets. It is another site for the sale of groceries on affordable prices, especially on "open market" days.
San Francisco Square
In this place which is a few blocks away from the New Cathedral, a series of textile garments and other products can be found on affordable prices. It is on General Torres and Presidente Córdova Streets.
Otorongo Square
It is located on a street alongside the Tomebamba River. On April, November and December fairs of handmade crafts and products from different areas of the country are performed in this place.
